How we tag claims
Announcement-week coverage mixes Blizzard statements, press briefings, datamining and leaks that contradict each other. So every fact on this site says how much to believe it, and links to where it came from.
The three tags
- Confirmed
- Stated by Blizzard, directly or through a press briefing quoted by a named outlet.
- Datamined
- Found in client, PTR or beta data, but not stated by Blizzard.
- Community
- Reported by players or leakers. Unverified.
A tag describes the weakest evidence behind a claim. A page tagged Confirmed can still contain a sentence tagged Community; when it does, that sentence carries its own tag inline.
Zones, dungeons and raids
Places get a status instead of a tag, because the question is whether the thing exists yet: Confirmed means Blizzard has named it, Datamined means it exists in game data, and Rumored means someone says so. Unnamed entries are always Rumored.
Verified in beta
A separate mark, on guides only. It means we played it ourselves and what the guide describes is what we saw. It does not replace the tag or the source; Blizzard changes things between beta and launch, and the guide's date tells you which build it reflects.
Sources
Every entry links to at least one source a reader can open. Blizzard's own posts come first. Press articles count as confirmation when they quote a Blizzard briefing. We never copy another site's text, and we never scrape a database; if the answer lives on Wowhead, we link to Wowhead.
When we are wrong
When a leak is confirmed or debunked, the tag changes and the confirming source is added. Living pages keep a dated "what changed" list at the bottom, so you can see what moved and when. A speed record is worth nothing next to a wrong guide, so corrections beat scoops.
