Which World of Warcraft: Forever edition should you buy?

The short answer

• You just want to play on November 4. Buy nothing. Forever comes with your subscription or Game Time.
• You want to play a Skyborne Elf. Buy the Skyborne Heroic Pack. It is the only thing that unlocks the race, and nothing cheaper does.
• You want into the beta. Buy the Skyborne Epic Pack. The beta runs September 17 to October 21, so the value of this decays every day you wait.
• You would pay for a month of Game Time anyway and like cosmetics. The Epic Pack. Its 30 days of Game Time land at launch and cover a good part of the difference over the Heroic Pack.
• You want Warcraft III: Reforged and the new Forsaken Kingdom campaign. The Warcraft Forever Collection, sold only through January 11, 2027.
• You want the statue. The Collector’s Edition from the Blizzard Gear Store, which includes the Collection as a digital code.

Nothing in any edition gates zones, dungeons, raids or quests. The one piece of content behind a purchase is the Skyborne race and its starting island.

Nothing: subscription or Game Time

Forever is not a separate purchase. Blizzard’s own wording is that access “will be included with your World of Warcraft Subscription or Game Time” Confirmed Blizzard. If you are subscribed on November 4, you can log in to Forever the same way you log in to Classic today.

What you give up by buying nothing: the Skyborne race, the beta, Early Name Reservation, and the cosmetics. That is the whole list.

Skyborne Heroic Pack

$29.99 US. This is the pack that exists to sell one thing: the Skyborne Elves. The race and its Zephras Isle starting questline require the Heroic Pack or a higher edition, and there is no other way to get them.

It includes:

• Access to the Skyborne race and the Zephras Isle starting experience.
• Early Name Reservation, October 27 through November 3: create and customize up to three characters before launch, names first come first served and not guaranteed. The benefit applies only to the WoW account it was bought for.
• The Cerulean Prideclaw ground mount.
• The Shen’dorei Skyseer’s Garb, the Veteran Adventurer’s Rucksack, and the Shen’dorei Windwell toy.
• Skyborne housing decor for the current game. Housing needs the Midnight expansion, sold separately, so this is worth nothing to you unless you play modern WoW with Midnight.
• One Invite-A-Friend Launch Code.

It does not include beta access.

Skyborne Epic Pack

$59.99 US. Everything in the Heroic Pack, plus:

• Access to the beta from September 17 through October 21, 2026. How access arrives and what Blizzard has said about the beta is on the beta FAQ.
• 30 days of World of Warcraft Game Time, added to your account when Forever launches on November 4. Not before.
• Additional Veteran Adventurer–inspired cosmetics, tabards, and pets for your Forever collection.
• Two more Invite-A-Friend Launch Codes, for three in total.

The way to think about the extra $30 over the Heroic Pack: it buys the beta, the extra cosmetics, two more codes, and a month of Game Time you would otherwise pay for at launch. If you were going to play through November on a paid month anyway, the month offsets part of the difference, and the beta is the rest. If you were not going to be in the beta and do not care about the cosmetics, the Heroic Pack is the better buy for a Skyborne player.

Warcraft Forever Collection

$79.99 US. Everything in the Epic Pack, plus:

• Warcraft III: Reforged.
• Warcraft III Reforged: Forsaken Kingdom, a new campaign that Blizzard describes as bridging The Frozen Throne and the first days of World of Warcraft, telling the story of the first Forsaken Paladin.
• Forsaken and Human figurine decor for housing in the current game, with the same Midnight requirement as above.

The Collection is a limited-time offer: the shop says it will be available through January 11, 2027 Confirmed Battle.net Shop. Blizzard has not said whether owners of Warcraft III: Reforged get a discount or a different bundle.

Collector’s Edition

$150.00 US from the Blizzard Gear Store, not the Battle.net Shop. It is a physical box on pre-order, listed as not shipping until November 2026, limited to three per household on the US store, and shipping only to select locations in North and South America from there. The EU Gear Store sells its own version, and Blizzard says players in Australia and New Zealand can pre-purchase through participating regional retailers.

It includes:

• A Warcraft Forever Collection digital code: the Epic Pack, Warcraft III: Reforged and the Forsaken Kingdom campaign, and so the beta, the 30 days of Game Time and every cosmetic above.
• A 13-inch Dwarf and Bear statue.
• A Zephras Isle mousepad.
• Scenic art prints, listed as Hyjal Summit and Riverglades.
• Collectible pins, an Azeroth compass and the Skyborne elven crest.
• A companion journal.

If you want the beta, remember the code arrives with a physical pre-order; check the store’s terms on when digital codes are delivered before relying on it for September 17.

The fine print that matters

• Where the cosmetics work. The shop marks each in-game item as usable in both modern WoW and Forever, or in Forever only. None of the included items are available in WoW Classic.
• Housing decor only works inside Housing in modern WoW, which requires the Midnight expansion, sold separately.
• Game Time from the Epic Pack and the Collection is added at launch. Playing outside that 30-day window needs a subscription or more Game Time.
• Invite-A-Friend Launch Codes grant an eligible friend access to Forever from November 4 through November 11. Codes are emailed from October 20, are not awarded on gift purchases, and carry other restrictions Blizzard details in a support article.
• Early Name Reservation is tied to the specific WoW account the edition was bought for, runs October 27 through November 3, and reserves up to three names first come first served.

Regional pricing and tax

The prices above are the US shop’s. Blizzard prices each region separately, and tax applies on top where it applies. The Canadian shop, viewed on announcement day, listed the Warcraft Forever Collection at CA$100.00 Confirmed Battle.net Shop (Canada). Can you upgrade later?

Blizzard has not announced an upgrade path from one edition to a higher one. Until it does, the safe assumption is that you cannot, so:

• If beta access matters, decide before October 21, when the beta ends, and ideally before September 17, when it begins.
• If only the Skyborne race matters, there is no deadline. The Heroic Pack will still be there on launch day, and name reservation is included in it.
• If only Warcraft III matters, the Collection is available until January 11, 2027.
